At the Hamilton County Music Alliance, music and mental health are at the heart of our mission. We believe music has the power to lift spirits, give voice to feelings, and help people find comfort and peace through life’s challenges. Research backs this up. Johns Hopkins Medicine reports that listening to music can reduce anxiety and improve mood, and other studies suggest that singing and playing instruments can support emotional well-being and strengthen social bonds.
One way we put our mission into action is by visiting assisted living and memory care facilities and singing familiar songs from residents’ generation, including the Great American Songbook. We have seen faces brighten, feet start tapping, and people sing along.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to experience what music can bring to their lives so another way we put this belief into action is our
(Put Music in Their Hands) program providing instruments and lesson scholarships for young people whose families qualify. With the help of donors and community partners, we open doors to learning, creativity, and self-expression.
Beyond these programs, we partner with other organizations and support community programs and events that bring people together through music and the arts.
Through music, we are creating connections across generations, supporting well-being, and helping build a stronger Hamilton County community
